Jim Hickmon is a Board Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law and a Certified Financial Planner based in Charlotte, North Carolina, who is also admitted to practice in Virginia. He teaches wealth transfer and fiduciary income taxation as an adjunct professor at Wake Forest University School of Law and has been recognized by Super Lawyers, Martindale Hubbell, and Business North Carolina Legal Elite. His practice focuses on succession planning for families and closely held business owners across a range of industries, and he has authored numerous articles and contributions to publications on wealth transfer, tax, probate, and fiduciary responsibility. Beyond his legal work, Jim is active in charitable service, having served as president of NAMI Virginia and currently sitting on the board of the Humane Society of Charlotte, and he holds leadership roles within the American Bar Association. He lives in South Charlotte with his wife Alison, three rescue cats, and a rescue dog.
